Making CRM workflows faster and easier to access
A productivity tool set out to simplify access to Salesforce workflows without requiring users to open the full CRM dashboard. We engineered a lightweight Chrome extension with a responsive interface, secure authentication, real-time data synchronization, and a scalable serverless backend.
About the client
A productivity technology company developing a lightweight interface for Salesforce users who needed faster access to common CRM workflows.
Instead of requiring sales teams to repeatedly open and navigate the full Salesforce dashboard, the product provided a streamlined experience directly within the Chrome browser.
The solution needed to remain simple enough for non-technical users while supporting secure Salesforce authentication, live data interactions, and reliable performance across a globally distributed user base.
The business challenge
Sales teams often need to perform quick CRM actions without navigating through a full enterprise application. A browser-based extension could reduce this friction, but it needed to combine the simplicity of a lightweight interface with the security, responsiveness, and reliability expected from an enterprise CRM integration.
The client therefore needed an extension that could provide a smooth user experience while securely connecting to Salesforce and backend services.
Key Challenges
- Making CRM functionality intuitive for sales representatives with minimal onboarding.
- Providing a responsive interface within the constraints of a Chrome extension.
- Synchronizing live data without creating noticeable latency.
- Establishing secure authentication between users, Salesforce, and backend systems.
- Supporting variable usage volumes across different geographies.
- Maintaining low CPU and memory consumption across user devices.
- Creating an architecture capable of scaling as adoption increased.
How we solved it
We engineered a lightweight Chrome extension that connected Salesforce workflows with a responsive browser-based interface.
The frontend was designed for fast interactions and minimal latency, allowing users to perform common tasks without opening the full Salesforce dashboard.
For authentication, we integrated AWS Cognito as the identity provider, enabling secure token-based access to Salesforce. A serverless Python backend handled API interactions and provided on-demand scalability as usage changed.
The architecture combined a lightweight client experience with scalable backend services, allowing the extension to remain performant while supporting growing usage across geographies.
Solution Highlights
- Built a responsive Chrome extension optimized for fast CRM interactions.
- Designed a lightweight UI for non-technical sales users.
- Integrated Salesforce workflows directly into the browser experience.
- Implemented secure, token-based authentication using AWS Cognito.
- Built a serverless Python backend for scalable API processing.
- Integrated REST APIs and Salesforce services.
- Optimized frontend and backend performance for low resource consumption.
- Designed the architecture to support geographically distributed usage.
